Lopinot, located in the foothills of the Northern Range , is the most elevated village in Trinidad contour-wise and was founded by Charles Josephe Count de Lopinot also known as “a man on the run”. Lopinot was a young knight who rose to the rank of Lieutenant-General in the French army. Behind the history lies a mountain call the king of the dammed. All those who make this track are dammed never to forget it. The hike starts at the foothills of the Lopinot mountains. At the start you are greeted by a series of hills that steals the breath even from the fittest of hikers. Once at the top of these, the challenge has just
begun; you are greeted by another hill with every step steeper than the last till you arrive at the top. This Hike is challenging and should only be attempted by fit and experienced hikers. Lopinot Village remains a part of Trinidad and Tobago that blossoms with natural and almost undisturbed beauty and limitless history to be appreciated by all.
