This is the second largest of all the islands it is approximately 1000 acres and is primarily mountains with steep cliffs occurring mainly on the north side. It highest peak is elevated at 287 meters. This island gained its name Monos which is Spanish for Monkey. The red howler money once inhabited this island but has vanished a lot like the whales that used to once come to breed in our waters. This is unique island offers the hikers great hiking destination to Turtle Bay (Grand Fond), Scouts Hut at Copper hole, and many other no names bays just ready for be enjoyed. Within this island lies a holiday resort which provides a haven for those whom wish to spend the week or weekend. Monos Island was not another island but a place of life and vitality.
